Your wrist size accommodates the Explorer well within reasonable means. I have owned a neo vintage 14270 Explorer as well as the 39mm (which I felt was larger than the original design and lacked the “style” of the 36mm), and finally my current Explorer, a 2021 era 124270 36mm on my 7.25” wrist. I am considering to acquire a Rolex Explorer 1, but after watching tons of reviews on the 214270 (39mm) version and the new 124270 with 36mm I am more confused than ever. I have a 6.5 inch wrist and would love to see some pictures of the watch on the wrist of someone with actually the same exact wrist size. Rolex Explorer ref. 14270; credit: Thomas Calara. For the vast majority of its life span, the Explorer has been a 36mm watch. Place the new model next to one from the late ‘90s, and the average viewer will be hard pressed to tell them apart. A closer look reveals some important differences, however. The reincarnation of the 36mm Rolex Explorer brings some thoughtful touches. We get an all lume dial (indices and numerals) on a glossy dial. The movement jumps to the 3230 caliber with 70 hours of power reserve. The bracelet is the Oysterlock with a safety clasp and a quick adjustment to give up to 5mm of flexibility.
The new 36 has a narrower lug width and significant taper to the clasp which reduces its wrist presence compared to the older 36. People with wrists 7 inches or over should try both on prior to making a decision.
I've tried on the 39mm and it covers I'd say 3/4 the diameter of my wrist lug to lug. Just wondering if I should stick with the 36mm or go up to 39mm as I am currently undecided. Hearing your inputs would be helpful thanks!
What Makes the Explorer 124270 Stand Out. The Rolex Explorer 124270 distinguishes itself through a perfect balance of heritage and innovation. Its 36mm case size harks back to the original Explorer models, offering a versatile fit that appeals to a wide range of wearers.

36 is too small for your wrist. It doesn't matter that 36 was the original size, what matters is how it fits you. Just wanted to see photos of the new rolex explorer on a 7” wrist. If you have them, please show it off! Thanks!
Thank you for watching and support to my channel, my work, and my love for horology. I spend a lot of time in producing these videos before you see them here.
