These look fake to me. I bought mine from Amazon. First, the box. The 'Sony' logo on the top of the box, next to the hole where you hang it on display is much bigger on my box than in your picture. Additionally, I have a UPC and other bar codes on the left side of the box, whereas yours has none. I remember my Sony MDR-7506 coming with a black bag, but it was pleather. I got a pair of fake MDR-90EX earphones one time. they sounded like fingernails on a blackboard + aluminum foil. No bass, screechy highs, piercing mids. The real 'phones were as smooth as glass. Physically, they were about 90% identical, but the packaging was a little off.
The MDR-7506 arrived from Buy.com sadly it has all the signs posted on the net of being a fake. I have contacted the seller and requested a return authorization. Did Amazon sell me a counterfeit/second hand Sony MDR-7506? I got this (see pictures) from Amazon (UK) and I noticed a few things: The box is different to the one in the product page. I googled a lot but couldn’t find any pictures of this box. The headphone was sort of “put inside” the foam bag. If you want to pretend to have the 7506 buy them, but if you want the real sound, then pay what they are worth. I almost fell for one of these fakes until I heard the real deal and the sound was not even close. But the packaging here is different from all the other.. If you look closely you see 7 languages imprinted on the package instead of 4. you can see Korean, Chinese simplified and traditional Chinese imprinted on the package too.. I’m still wondering whether it is legit or counterfeit.. OP.
Compared to stock photos of the MDR-7506 (e.g. on Amazon and Thomann), the headband has been replaced and it's backwards; the driver that's labeled 'R' is actually the left driver and vice-versa, as evidenced by the cable, placement of internal wiring and text direction.
