This movement has no central jewel like many other watches but a bronze bushing that is prone to wear if not serviced. After almost 7 years my trusty 216570 is now making a rotary sound that I have never heard before, it was serviced probably about 6 months ago so it may need to be looked at again. Recently noticed the noise of the rotor getting louder, like the gears can be heard spinning/grinding. The watch keeps almost perfect time, and I am planning to take it in to the RSC soon, however I want to know if anyone has experienced this issue. The sound is a faint "tink-tink", its not the usual rotor sound. It is not the rotor, I believe its something in the bracelet. When I move my watch, side to side (9 to 3), I hear it even when I try to hold the bracelet firmly with the clasps closed.

what is a rolex sound

I think the sound is mostly generated by the rotor bushings or ball bearing when it's free spinning on unidirectional winding. The bearing isn't under any load at all then and it's not filled with grease either, since it has to move as freely as possible. The spinning rotor sound is a feature that the manufacturers built in to let you know that your watch is working. You can usually avoid it by holding your arm perfectly still. Many high-end watches will automatically detect your preferences over a couple of days, and stop running.

So since this rattle is normal and ruling out bracelet pins (had mine completely removed) and worn/loose rotor axle (brand new ones in AD does the same), which part of the watch movement is making this noise?I have a 3135 based movement and do not hear the same as your demonstrate. Unlike the 3235 which has ball-bearing rotor bearings which can be heard, the 3135 has virtually silent rotor sounds. Like you say - maybe due a service. Hopefully others will be along soon. I have seen a few post lately on "Noise when Shaking my Watch" issues, and it always seems to be a Rotor Issue. These particular issues are fairly easy to remedy at home, if this is the only problem, and if you can open the back of your watch. I recently noticed there is a rattling sound when you hold it close to your ear and gently move around. Almost sounds like something is lose. It’s very possible it has always been this way.
